How Qigong Changed My Life

Several years ago, I was struggling with digestive issues and anxiety. Everyone I saw prescribed drugs to deal with the symptoms and not the causes. As a result, I received little to no relief. I knew there had to be a better way. At the time, I was working a stressful job as a CFO for a growing contractor. I had little time for self-care. Then a friend recommended I try Qigong.

Qi-what?? I chuckle now when I recall thinking it was something to eat or drink.  I thought she was telling me to go have some fun!  Once I understood that it was Chinese energy medicine, I asked if I was supposed to have a treatment or if I was supposed to be the practitioner.

“Go find out!” she replied.

After some research, I discovered that there was a Qigong practitioner and school right in Gettysburg! I could not believe my good fortune.  The East Coast Institute of Medical Qigong is run by Ted O’Brien, Acupuncturist and Medical Qigong Master.  Ted has since become a trusted teacher, mentor, and friend.  I scheduled my first Qigong treatment with Ted in 2014 and was curious, nervous, and excited all at the same time.

After my first treatment, I was hooked.  The Qigong treatment was like nothing I had ever experienced.  I could feel the heaviness lift from my body and the flow of warmth and energy moving freely.  I needed to know more. I enrolled in my first year of Qigong training since it concentrates more on learning about the practitioner’s energetic body and how self-care is paramount for healing the body and cultivating “beneficial Qi”, our life force.  Throughout my first year of training, my symptoms of digestive problems and anxiety slowly resolved!

I eagerly continued through the second and third years of training and eventually obtained my Master of Medical Qigong in 2018, all the while honing my skills by practicing with friends and family.  I eventually left my stressful full-time job. My enthusiasm and love for this healing modality have translated into a private practice that serves a multi-state area.  I offer individualized Qigong Treatments - General Protocol and Specialized, Chakra Balancing, Regression Healing, Remote Healing, and regular self-care classes.

Several years ago, I was asked to develop a mission statement for my Qigong practice, and it is simply-

“To spread the good news of Qigong”.

Many blessings to you all and thank you for making me a part of your healing journey!

I first visited Christine for Medical Qigong to help with the grieving effects on my body from losing my daughter. My heart was torn, and I was having breathing issues. Christine taught me that grief is stored in the lungs. After my first appointment, I knew I found something different and good. I felt lighter and happier. I made another appointment… and another. Flash forward 5 years later. I now see Christine once every 3 weeks. She keeps me balanced and healthy not just with my lungs and heart but my complete body! Her practice is clean and tranquil. Her healing is not like anything I have experienced from other holistic healing practices. I highly recommend Christine's care for whatever ails you! - Cindy M. Fox
